What To Do With a Flat Tyre at Night
How to stay safe and get help if you get a puncture or flat tyre after dark.
Get somewhere safe first
Slow down gradually and pull over somewhere well-lit and level, away from traffic. Don't keep driving on a flat — it can damage the wheel.
Should you change it yourself?
Only if you're somewhere safe, well away from traffic, and confident doing it. On a busy road, hard shoulder or in poor light, it's safer to call for help.
No spare?
Many cars only carry an inflation kit, which won't fix sidewall damage. A mobile tyre fitter can come to you with a new tyre, even at night.
